Paderewski Music Association in Bydgoszcz for eighty four years has been trying to honor the good name of city and the region, through the numerous cultural initiatives. One of the most important examples was the co-operation in opening The Pomeranian Philharmonic, The Opera Nova as well as secondary and higher musical education in Bydgoszcz. The mission of The Music Association is a continuous promotion of the composer and statesman - Ignacy Jan Paderewski and his vocal composition through organizing concerts and meetings dedicated the Maestro's person. The most important and prestigious initiatives are The International Paderewski Piano Competition and The Paderewski Vocal Competition.
The International Paderewski Piano took place for the first time in 1961. Since 1998 it has been held every three years, gaining an international label. This piano competition is to honour great Polish pianist, composer and politician, very well known in Europe and in United States.
For over forty years The International Paderewski Piano Competition’s underlying principle has been the promotion of Polish music as well as continuing the memory of Ignacy Jan Paderewski; a great pianist, composer, statesman and patriot. The International Paderewski Piano Competition provides an opportunity for young pianists to present their talent, furthers their careers.
